Legacy Camp

It's the third day of the Legacy Camp; I finally had some time to sit down and tell you
people all about it...

first off....

I LOVE IT.

Working with these kids is such an awesome experience - I am seriously enjoying every minute of it. The knitting classes are going very well and the kids are doing great. It's such a reward, to be able to see the expressions on their faces brighten when they see that they can, indeed, knit!
It's also very sad to see the long, strained and worn look in these kid's eyes that make you want to do more than just teach them how to knit; so Mom and I are putting together little knitting gift bags for them to take home.

On the last day, I'm going to knit up some scarves for the girls, and Mom's going to knit wrist warmers for the boys. (yes, we have boys; and they're very enthusiastic - for boys, anyway!)

I'll give more updates as soon as I can, but lemme tell ya, I get pretty worn out teaching and usually end up going to bed one or two hours earlier than normal!

P.S. Yesterday while we were loading up the truck, my project's yarn ball slipped out of the top of a bag (right before Mom shut the truck door, apparently without seeing it fall out) and so we ended up driving off with this long strand of orange yarn flying behind us; (gosh, that was probably pretty stupid looking.) I never found the rest of the ball, but I'll upload pictures of the pathetic, muddy tail-end later. Mom was VERY upset at herself, but I thought it was hysterically funny and couldn't quit laughing about it.

A late status report...

Well, I'm back after 3 months, and all I can say is "busy busy busy!"

I honestly can't remember what happened the whole time; except we were running here and running there.

Anyways, I'm loving this hot weather we're having, it makes me want to go outside and actually do something besides sitting on the computer like I'm doing right now.
Funny. Why am I still here boring you? Because I've got a little piece of excitement to share with you! (Yeah right.)

I'm going to be a knitting teacher for a whole bunch of juvi kids!!

WOOT!

Yeah, ok, so it's not that exhilarating but I'm pretty pumped about it. Like I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, my grandma's church had a fund raiser for this thing called the Legacy Camp; it's a organization that helps kids who've been abused or neglected have some fun and encouragement through creativity. This is my first time volunteering, and even though I'm pumped... I'm also a bit nervous. I really don't want to come back from this camp and feel I've taught these kids nothing, or feel like I've poorly communicated with them. I have had a whole bunch of encouragement from everyone - which really gave me a big confidence boost, but as everyone knows, I'm a big chicken; so mucho encouragement is mucho good.

That's what has been on my mind for the last month, just pray that I don't screw up something or do something that will cause the world to end.

PRAY FOR ME PEOPLE- I DON'T HAVE MUCH FINGERNAIL LEFT.

I am seriously not dead.

Hey! It's me! Do you remember me?

Ok, I just got over some serious sick stuff about a week ago and have now just gotten the chance to start blogging again. (It's been a looong 3 weeks...)

Anyway, been doing some crocheting...

Too extreme? Nah. My guitar teacher actually said he thought they were pretty cool- so I'm going to make him one just for the heck of it. XD Other than that my brain is fried, and I can't remember what the heck else happened this week. :P

Knit 'o' Rama

Well, it's been quite busy these last coupla' weeks,
I've been doing a lot of drawing, guitaring,
and of course, knitting! I don't think I've ever knitted so much in such a
short time, (7 or 8 scarves and 1 and 1.5 hats in 2 weeks!)
I'm doing it for fundraiser for the Legacy Camp at my grandma's church.
I'm really excited about doing it, all the proceeds will go to directly
to the Legacy Camp to help support the kids there. I would really love to start
a charity project to donate knitted scarves, hats or something of the sort.
These kids have hardly anything, and I think it would be really cool to
be able to give something to them. Anyway, I can't wait, and I plan on making
more scarves this week.

Other than that, I am now actually trying to get myself on a schedule,
where I can (attempt to) plan my day out and write down little
reminders on what to do. My poor guitar teacher has been trying to tell
me this for SOOOOO long now; I think I'm now starting to get the picture!

Pumpkin obsession?

So far I think, (think) I've made 15 some loaves of pumpkin bread now...

I know pumpkin bread is absolutely not an interesting subject, (then again all of my subjects aren't very interesting...) but I have been on this baking craze lately, and all I've been making is this darn pumpkin bread. Ever since one of my friends gave me
her awesome recipe... I can't stop myself!! It's so freakin' good!!

Anyway, I have nothing else to post about, so I guess I'm just proving that I'm still alive.

Happy 2009 everyone!

I don't know if I have any New Year resolutions,

if anything, it should be to STOP BUYING MORE YARN.

(But am I seriously going to do that?)

Happy New Year!
